Benefit for Cornerstone, 8/25

For the next month, I'm turning this space over entirely to promoting a place near and dear to my heart - perhaps moreso than any other.

This time last year I was in Nimule, Sudan spending time with the orphans who live at Cornerstone Children's Home. Not a day goes by that I don't think of those kids, and I can't even count how often a memory will flash through my mind and take me back. I have never seen such faith, hope, and resilience as I saw in the forty kids who call Cornerstone home.

This Saturday, August 25th those of you in Denver should come by theGallery at 910 (910 Santa Fe) at 8pm to hear a few bands, peruse some art and support Cornerstone. By the end of this year, Cornerstone will have completed a new building that will be the talk of Nimule - able to house at least 100 kids plus staff. We're helping them move forward with this goal by throwing a benefit, $8 at the door for a deeply worthy cause.

Later this week I'll post a couple stories that I hope will capture your hearts, and once your hearts have been captured you should also plan to come and hear Samuel Juma, the founder of Cornerstone, and Ross Kelly, who runs Cornerstone, speak at the Arvada Vineyard (5608 Yukon St., Arvada 80002) on Monday, September 10 @ 7pm. It's a rare treat for both of these incredible men to be out our way.
